Horizons Edge Ventures Inc.

Care at both ends of a life, the advisory practice, and the technology that runs them. Two operating today. Three building.

Why this company exists

We were full, and that turned out to be the problem.

Nazish runs a licensed child care home in Saskatoon. It is inspected, it is full, and it has a waiting list. That sounds like success, and for a while we thought it was.

Then we understood the ceiling. The province sets the capacity, and the capacity was already reached. There was no next place to sell. Marketing harder would have returned nothing at all.

The other half of it happened at night. Attendance, subsidy claims, receipts, parent updates, all of it on spreadsheets and goodwill, because nothing built for a home-based Canadian operator existed to buy.

So we stopped trying to grow the daycare, and started building the company around it.

The Horizons Circle

A family of ventures, not a portfolio of bets.

Horizons Edge sits above five businesses and does one job well: shared services and strategic direction. Each venture keeps its own name, its own audience and its own lead, because a mother choosing infant care and a company buying development work are not the same person and should not be spoken to in the same voice. What they share is a standard, a system, and someone answerable for it.

01

Prove

Run one regulated business properly and at capacity before claiming anything else. Little Horizons is that proof, and it is why the rest of this is worth reading.

02

Extend

Take the same standards to the other end of a life, and to the organisations that need the governance we already had to build for ourselves.

03

Systematise

Build the operating technology for our own ventures first, then offer it outward. The child care admin platform exists because we needed it, not because we spotted a market.

Before you write to us

You will know in about a minute whether we are a fit.

You want a partner, not a supplier

We are small and we stay close. If you want a vendor at arm's length, we are the wrong shape.

You value being told the truth early

Every venture here carries an honest status. We would rather lose the work than overstate where something stands.

You are building something regulated

Licensing, inspections, subsidy claims and compliance are ordinary weeks for us, not special projects.

You are in Saskatchewan, or you are not

The care arms are local by necessity. Advisory and technology work anywhere, and already do.

And plainly, not us

  • You need a large team on site next week.
  • You want aerial or drone work today. That arm is still in development and we will say so.
  • You want us to put a number on the page we cannot evidence.

If any of that sounds like your situation, write to info.horizonsedge@gmail.com. We aim to reply within two business days, and we will tell you quickly if we are not the right people.
